Follow these simple steps to get an accurate moving quote in minutes.
Step 1: Choose Your Service & Add Your Items
Select Moving at the top of the calculator, or Moving + Storage if you also need storage. Pick a room tab or search for any item, then tap + to add everything you're moving. The panel on the right shows your total volume (cuft) and recommended van size as you go. On a phone, this appears in the bar at the bottom. Click Next when your list is complete.
Step 2: Enter Your Addresses
For both your current and new address, add the postcode, property type, floor, number of bedrooms and whether there's a lift. Moving into storage? Tick Straight to storage instead of entering a new address.
Step 3: Add Your Move Details

Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is an online removal costs calculator?
Our item-by-item calculator uses standard furniture sizes for every item you add. Your own items may be larger or smaller, so treat the result as a guide. It can give a reliable estimate of your total volume, but only if your list is complete. Try your best to include everything: boxes, bags, cupboard and wardrobe contents, loft, garage and garden items, and all furniture, small or large. If you want a fixed price, a packing service, or you're moving long distance or on a completion day, we may still need to confirm everything with a quick video survey before your final price.
Why doesn't the calculator show a price?
The calculator works out your volume and recommended van size, which is where every removal price starts. Your price also depends on how many movers and hours the job needs, the distance, floors, lifts, parking and any extra services such as packing. That's why we review your details personally and send your initial quote once you've completed the form. We aim to reply within 15 minutes during office hours.
What size van do I need to move house?
It depends on your total volume in cubic feet (cuft). As a guide:
- Up to 300 cuft: Sprinter / panel van
- 301–500 cuft: Standard Luton van
- 501–720 cuft: XL Luton van
- 721–850 cuft: Jumbo Luton van
- 851–1,350 cuft: Jumbo Luton + Standard Luton
- 1,351–1,570 cuft: XL Luton + Jumbo Luton
- 1,571–2,070 cuft: XL Luton + Jumbo Luton + Standard Luton
- Over 2,070 cuft: HGV + Jumbo Luton, or more
We'll always send at least the van size your inventory needs. Our calculator recommends the right van automatically as you add items, so be sure to include everything.
How many cubic feet is a 2 or 3-bedroom house?
As a rough guide:
- 1-bed flat: 300–500 cuft
- 2-bed flat: 500–1,250 cuft
- 2-bed house: 750–1,500 cuft
- 3-bed house: 1,000–2,000 cuft
- 4-bed house: 1,500–2,500 cuft
The ranges are wide because no two homes are the same. If you're selling your home, you'll usually have more to move. If you're moving from one rental to another, especially unfurnished, your volume is usually lower. List your items in the calculator for your own figure.
How much does it cost to move a 3-bedroom house in the UK?
A 3-bedroom move can cost anything from under £300 to over £2,000 + VAT. What you're moving, whether you're selling or renting, and who packs make the difference, not the number of bedrooms. As a guide for a local London move:
| Your move | Crew and vans | Price (+ VAT) |
|---|---|---|
| Contents only (landlord-furnished) | 2 men + Standard Luton, 3–5 hrs | £285–£475 |
| Large items only (part-furnished) | 2 men + Standard Luton, 6–8 hrs | £570–£760 |
| Whole house, renting, you pack | 2 men + Luton, 2 trips, 9–10 hrs | £855–£950 |
| Selling, out by 12pm, you pack | 3 men + 2 vans | approx £1,000–£1,200 |
| Selling, we pack the day before | 1–2 packers, then 3 men + 2 vans | approx £1,500–£2,200 |
Key waiting time after 1pm, Sunday moves and moves over 25 miles cost extra. Use our calculator and send us your results for a tailored quote.
What affects the cost of my removal?
The biggest factor is the volume of your belongings, because it decides the van size, crew and time. Next is access at both properties: floors, stairs, lifts, and how close we can park. Whether you're selling or renting matters too, since a sale has a fixed finish time and may need more crew. Sunday moves cost extra, and moves over 25 miles include a fuel charge. Extras such as packing, and loft, garage or garden items, also add to the cost. Dismantling and reassembling standard beds and wardrobes is included. The calculator captures these details, so your quote reflects your real move.
Does the moving quote include packing materials?
Your moving quote includes the van, crew, travel time and fuel within London, soft moving blankets, free mattress covers, and dismantling and reassembly of standard beds and wardrobes. Packing materials aren't included, but we can supply boxes, tape and packing paper. If you'd like us to pack for you, we do it the day before your move. For a 3-bed house this typically costs approx £500–£1,000 + VAT, including labour and materials. Tick "Packing Service" in the calculator and we'll include it in your quote.
What size storage unit do I need?
Match the unit to your volume:
- Up to 250 cuft: 35 sqft (about a garden shed)
- Up to 500 cuft: 70 sqft (about a supermarket delivery van)
- Up to 750 cuft: 105 sqft (about a single garage)
- Up to 1,000 cuft: 140 sqft
- Over 1,000 cuft: 175 sqft or more
Only storing a few boxes? You can store by the box, from £2.50 a week. Choose "Moving + Storage" or "Storage" in the calculator and it recommends a unit size automatically.
Is the removals calculator free to use?
Yes. The calculator is completely free, needs no account, and you don't need to share any details until you request your quote. When you're ready, your results are sent to us through WhatsApp or email in one tap, and we aim to reply within 15 minutes during office hours.
What if I can't find an item in the calculator?
Use the search box to look across every room at once. If an item still isn't listed, add the closest match and describe it in the "Additional info" box on the final step, for example a hot tub, an antique cabinet or a large sculpture. You can also send us photos on WhatsApp, and we'll include it in your quote.
